Bake it up!

We are having a bake sale on Friday, December 21 at 8:30AM on the square in La Grange, in front of Prosperity Bank.  The bank graciously lets us borrow their space a few times a year, and we are very grateful!!  If you are a MOP and can bring some baked goods, that would be great.  If you are a member of the community, we appreciate your support!  We usually have a large turn out and sell everything by 11, so come early to pick out a delicious treat for you family, co-workers, or yourself!

Play date at the park

On Monday, Nov. 19 those who can are meeting at the park at 10AM.  Here's the website for a map:

If the weather is too cold, it will be moved to Katie's house, near HEB.  You can call her at 966-9457
Have a good Thanksgiving everyone!  We'll see you at the Nov. 29th meeting.

On Halloween we handed out 3000 glow bracelets!  We had a table on the square in La Grange and enjoyed seeing all the kids dressed up.

Meeting activities for the rest of 2012

Welcome to all the new moms who came to our last meeting, it was great to meet some new friends!  At each meeting we provide breakfast for each other, so come hungry!  We also provide a snack for the kiddos, and if you could bring a sippy cup with their name on it that would help with keeping germs from spreading.
At MOPS we have a desire to give back and support our community.  Knowing how blessed we are and how hard it is on others who are not as fortunate at Christmas, makes giving so much more important.
Here are the meeting activities for November and December:
Nov. 8- a discussion about growing as moms, after the meeting at 11:15 we'll pack boxes with goodies for Operation Christmas Child.  Join us if you can!
Nov. 29- video and discussion from the MOPS growing guide
Dec. 13- making a cute craft
Dec. 20- wrapping donations for our local "adopted" family in need, in conjunction with Combined Community Action (more details to come) If you know anyone with an unneeded bunk bed, the family needs one!

Those who could make it to the playdate at Jamie's house had a nice time, we'll try to plan another one soon!

Four of our MOPS on the leadership team attended the international MOPS Convention in Grapevine, Texas.  Dana, Amie, Amy, and Bridgett enjoyed their time at convention, and at the Gaylord! Here's what a few moms had to say about it:

My favorite part was just knowing that there were almost 3,000 moms in the same room, worshiping, praying, laughing and crying together. The topics are awesome and I wish I could have attended all of them. It was a time to unwind and "plunge" to a deeper level of mothering.

Only at the MOPS Convention!! (To accommodate thousands of women, they change ALL the restrooms into ladies rooms!!) Made me laugh every time!

Mom Prom!

The MOPS convention is every year, usually in the summer, and can be attended by any MOPS member.  It's a great time to renew your spirit and get closer to your MOPS friends!  We do fundraisers to help decrease the cost each person has to pay out of pocket.
Here's the info about it for 2013:

Our first meeting of the year......

OPEN HOUSE!! We are very excited to have our open house and first meeting on September 13 at 9AM.  This will be very informal since it's our first of the year.  If you want to meet other moms and see if MOPS is for you, come visit!  We'll have breakfast, childcare down the hall, chat, and tell you a little about MOPS.  If your child is still a baby, feel free to keep them with you in the "meeting", we all have at some point and totally understand!  We have places to nurse if you need to, an outdoor playground, we provide snacks and drinks for the kids or you can bring your own if you rather.  The childcare workers are very sweet ladies who don't mind coming to tell you if you're needed by your little one, or you can let them know if some tough love is best for a few minutes so your child can know it's okay to be away from you, you'll come back!  For many of our kids this is their first experience away from you, and we all sympathize and understand! That's the great thing about MOPS, we've been through what you're going through, be it potty training, biting, separation anxiety, refusing naps, or the simple joys in life like snuggles in the morning from your angel.  We love being moms, and our little twice a month break for a few hours.  We hope to see you in a few weeks!
Here's the website for our host church, First Presbyterian Church of La Grange, and thanks to them for letting us meet there.

Steering team retreat

We had our annual steering team retreat in June and thanks to Katie's mom for letting us use her package for a weekend condo in Rock Port!   We stayed at the cutest place, got to shop, swim, and enjoy our weekend planning speakers, meeting dates, service projects, and other details.  A good time was had by all.  Even baby Samuel!

After seeing the neighbors blue lagoon a certain MOPS leader had to get one.
So we drove to Corpus to get one.
And after our pump ran out of batteries, these lovely ladies swam it over to some helpful people who inflated it with their shop vac for us.  We tied it up, sat and relaxed, until a fish tried to take a bite out of  Amie from underneath.
Not sure it was really for four adults once we got in and tried to paddle down the canal.  Amie and I got a work out, and barely went anywhere, but had fun trying.
We had a good time, and indulged in lemon cake balls, oreo balls, and ice cream cake.  Then we paid for it after we got home!  Thanks for a fun weekend ladies!

New Year!

Welcome back MOPS!  We've had a few new members so far this year and are happy to have you!  Today we had a speaker come, Dr. Shannon Juno, ObGyn.  She delivered many of the babies in our club! It was great to get to ask her questions and learn new things.  We appreciate your time!
